They own the same functions. The only different is the interface: the v1.5elm327 has both USB com interface, the plastic elm327 just has USB interface, and the Bluetooth elm327 just packaged without cable, it works via Bluetooth.

How To Use
Turn the car's ignition switch ON. No need to start the engine.
Start the software program, click "Options", select the correct communications port.
Your interface now works! Make sure the software can reliably access all the control modules that it should in your car.

How to use ELM327 (pictures)

The ELM327 updated to v1.4, to provide a little more support for the SAE J1939 protocol. Some of the additions include:
1. New default timer settings to better handle long J1939 messages.

2. JTM1 and JTM5 timer multiplier commands to lengthen the response wait times.

3. The ability to specify how many messages to retrieve when monitoring for a PGN

4. JHF0 and JHF1 commands to control the J1939 header formatting

5. The ability to see the entire TP.CM message

And for all the CAN protocol(6 to C), we now have:
1. A new CSM command for turning the CAN silent monitoring off and on, allowing for easier bench testing, and connecting to a dedicated CAN port.

2. A new CRA command for resetting the filters and masks to their default values
