How to install BMW Scanner 1.4.0 on Win 7
Most owners have no issue installing BMW Scanner 1.4.0 software PA Soft on XP system. But when it comes to Win 7 system, some people are having quite a bit of trouble installing the BMW diagnostic tool on the 64bit side, even though there are already threads telling them how. Well, after reading through many of them, I noticed that the threads only provide partial instructions, instructions even myself, an expert (on a scale between novice, advanced, expert, master) computer user struggled, that is for a few hours. It did make my head boggle up though. So here it is ladies and gents.
Go ahead and install the BMW scanner software. After you're done, plug the scanner into your OBD2 port, without having it plugged into your computer. Wait like 5 seconds (not 100% you even need to wait the 5 sec). Then, plug it in. Your computer will try several things. It'll attempt to find the driver and succeed, or not. It does not matter.
Go to http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm and scroll down to the box with listing of drivers of different operating systems. Since we are doing windows, I am only covering that. The 1st row shows windows. All the way at the right hand side, under comments, you will see "setup executable". You can download the drivers themselves but this thing does it all for you. It is much easier. Install it once downloaded. A black DOS like window pops up and installs it. The box usually disappears in like 5 seconds.
Once done, go to control panel, then device manager and right click on BMW scanner (usually under other devices) to select update driver software.
Select the option "Browse my computer for driver software". Then pick let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Select towards the bottom "Universal serial bus controllers. Look for FTDI on the next screen, on the left hand side under manufacturer. When you click on it, to the right, select USB Serial Converter. Then click next. A message will pop up saying armageddon will reign down upon you and your computer if you install this and it isn't compatible. I decided to go for it and take the risk. Once installed, open up your BMW scanner software and start messing with all your options.
I have tried this on windows 7home premium 64 bit, as well as windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. It worked for me, it might work for you. Have fun!

ELM327 VS JLR Mangoose VS Mangoose Pro
I start Jaguar DIY repairs 3 years ago and have experience of tools at 3 levels – ELM327 scanner, JLR Mangoose cable and latest Mangoose Pro. The first 2 are aimed at the budget DIY end of the market; the 3rd level (until now) being at the professional tool and expensive end of the market. Here is how I now see it:
ELM327 Bluetooth scanner, the most basic OBDII tool, is great for reporting DTCs (just like the S-Types on-board ETM). In addition, it is able to work on anything beyond the P codes, clear these and reset CEL etc.
Next come to the V131 to V138 JLR Mangoose cables. A real Mongoose costs thousands; the clone Mangoose only costs less than $50 on Aobd2shop. The JLR Mangoose cable is a combination of cable for connecting the cars OBDII port with a USB equipped laptop with a total diagnostic and programming software package. By far it works perfect, can do everything I need. Until very recently, even as the software version has extended from V131 to V138, reliable operation seems dependent on solely Win XP and I have to install it under XP mode in Win7 system.
Now comes the latest 2014 version of JLR Mangoose Pro ... along with an explosion of YouTube clips to lead us through software installation and use. This version broadens the o/s options to Vista and Win7 and is now fully functional on a wide range of Jaguar models from 1999 to 2014. It can be purchased for less than US$90 from V138 JLR Mangoose Pro.

$33 Mini VCI Cable with Techstream Software
There is a $33 2014 Mini VCI cable that comes with Techstream software and drivers that let me check/change a number of variables in my Lexus. I am not a vendor, nor affiliated in any way - just purchased it off the web after reading several references to it while researching AHC threads here in Mud. It has been extensively discussed on Tundra Net (search TechStream software and cable for $35). If anyone is interested in it, learning more:
This weekend I used it to:
A. Read AHC pressures to correctly crank TBs (4 turns, both sides on original set up) - front pressures now at nominal spec and confirmed rear springs are a little tired as rear AHC pressure just outside range. A valid pressure test removes a lot of speculation and blind cranking of TBs on AHC vehicles. And yes, based on hitting my local calibrated speed hump at 30 mph it does dampen better with the correct TB/front pressure loading.
B. Reset steering angle sensor to get rid of annoying 10 degree off centered wheel. Not sure how many alignment places reset the SAS as a matter of course, or if you don't ask for it specifically. I know my local Firestone does a reasonable alignment in that the truck drives straight, equal turning effort and no uneven tire wear - but the wheel was never centered properly. Only time I had it aligned at the stealer they charged an extra $10, on top of the $129, to reset the SAS.
C. Verified yaw and zero yaw sensor values were set to "0.
D. Turn off the 3s delayed wipe after using windshield washer.
E. Turn on "unlock all doors" with one push on remote (already had manually set lock/unlock on shifting from "P").
F. Adjusted headlight off and interior light delays.
G. ran "vehicle health check" and OBDII live tests to monitor O2 sensor voltages among other things, and won't be buying replacement sensors (still original) now. No DTC or MIL, it is just that some say 02s need to be replaced as a PM item, and others don't feel the same way. So until I get a DTC I'll leave them alone.
I have not used TechStream from the TIS site so cannot compare or comment on features and functions of the "official" software to what comes on the mini CD (V9.30.002 cracked), but I am happy. Just changing the remote unlock and centering the wheel was worth $33 to me! Still learning what can and cannot be done, what utility/test features are enabled and what's not, and what all the data means.The obd2 tool you can try.

, and what I wanted is to choose practical one to fit my Hyundai 2008 with reasonable price. As being the case, the only thing I can do is to seek for your recommendation.
